Help Us Provide Care and Hope
To Those In Need
Last year Catholic Charities:
As of October, 2016, New Jersey had a 5.3 percent unemployment rate. While this is an improvement over the last few years, Catholic Charities continues to see families and individuals struggling in need of our services. According to Rutgers University, long-term unemployment affects 4 in 10 New Jersey residents who are looking for employment, one of the highest rates in the country. Despite the ongoing need, we continue to see major cuts from local governments and the state, both of which are suffering from their own budgetary constraints.
- Served over 61,841 individuals in 88 programs in Bergen, Essex, Hudson and Union Counties.
- Gave away 204,776 pounds of food - the equivalent of 120 tons - to needy families.
- Fed 30,378 households who came to our emergency food programs.
- Delivered 214,157 mental health services to 6,133 people in need.
- Facilitated 45,755 days of job training to 2,524 individuals.
- Provided 93,598 nights of shelter to 1,226 homeless individuals & families.
People in our communities are suffering. For many, Catholic Charities is their only safety net.
