Privacy
Statement
At Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark,
your privacy is very important to us as your health information plays
a vital role in our ability to provide and deliver superior services.
Our most important asset is your trust, which is why we have taken measures
to secure your information.
Our Commitment to Confidentiality
Catholic Charities applies our Health Information Privacy Principles
to all types of personal information. These principles apply to all items
containing information about you that could directly or indirectly identify
you, whether in electronic or hard-copy format, whether original or copied,
whether free-standing or networked, as well as any client record created
for you. Information requested of our clients is limited to only that
information essential to our delivery of superior service, to administer
our business, and to fulfill any legal and regulatory requirements. We
expect technology to continue to change the media upon which personal
information is stored, and we intend to extend confidentiality guidelines
to any changes as they might come into use.
Catholic Charities uses security
safeguards and techniques designed to protect our client data. We limit
access to data to those who specifically need this information to conduct
their business tasks. We permit only authorized personnel who are trained
in the proper handling of health information to access your records.
Catholic Charities limits the release of information. We do not
share your individually identifiable health or financial information
for any purpose other than for the administration, servicing, payment,
or other purposes permitted by law without your prior authorization.
We do not share individually identifiable information about former clients
for any purpose, except as permitted by law. We do not sell individually
identifiable information about current or former clients.
Protecting
Your Individually Identifiable Information
At Catholic Charities, we recognize the sensitive nature
of our clients’ needs and we share your concerns regarding the confidentiality
of your individually identifiable information:
Catholic Charities extends our privacy principles to all of our
business relationships. We expect our business partners (i.e., entities
that provide services to our clients) to honor and follow our privacy
principles in the handling of all client information. We will require
organizations that we hire to provide support services to meet our privacy
standards and to allow us to audit for such compliance.
Catholic Charities holds each of our employees responsible
for maintaining customer confidence in the Agency. In order to meet
this goal, we provide training and communications designed to educate
our employees about the meaning, importance, and requirements of the
Catholic Charities Health Information Privacy Principles. We actively participate in
industry associations to support strong and effective privacy guidelines
and practices.
